The No Red Tape initiative is about keeping our neighbors in their homes and on their feet, and cultivating a community that has each other's backs.

For many in our community, a single missed paycheck or an unexpected hospital bill is the difference between stability and a downward spiral.
We are here to bridge that gap.

Since The Lee Foundation was established in 2009, we have served as a vital safety net for the residents of Baldwin County. Our mission is to provide compassionate, immediate support to individuals and families facing sudden, unforeseen financial crises—whether from a medical emergency, a sudden job layoff, or the mounting pressure of rent and utility debt.

We aren't a long-term subsidy.
Our goal is to provide quick and strategic, one-time assistance to help our hardworking neighbors get through their toughest moments and back to their normal lives.

Our "people first" approach sets us apart
from traditional assistance programs.

In the world of charitable aid, "red tape" is often the biggest barrier to survival. Traditional assistance programs frequently require weeks of documentation, multiple interviews, and endless waiting periods.

But when your power is about to be disconnected or you are facing eviction, you don’t have weeks. You have hours.

No Red Tape is a bold commitment to efficiency and dignity. We have redesigned our grant and request process to prioritize speed and trust over bureaucracy.

We cut through the red tape, and strive to streamline the path between a crisis and a solution, ensuring that every dollar spent has a verifiable and immediate impact.

Expedited
Relief

By streamlining our application and vetting process, we move from "request" to "resolution" in a fraction of the time of traditional agencies.

Direct
Impact

We focus on the immediate need. Whether it’s paying a landlord directly to stop an eviction or settling a utility debt to keep the lights on, we cut through the administrative noise to get the funds where they are needed most.

Empowering
the Individual

We believe that people in crisis deserve to be treated with respect, not like a case number. "No Red Tape" means fewer hurdles to jump and faster help when it’s needed as soon as possible.

Community Driven Support

We operate on a foundation of trust and local connection. Through word-of-mouth referrals and a strong network of Baldwin County business partners, we identify those who are slipping through the cracks. We aren’t providing a handout. We are providing a bridge from "Point A to Point B," and giving people the breathing room they need to return to their regular schedules and regain stability.

By cutting through all the red tape, we can get the help to those who need it the most, as quickly as possible.

But we still
need your help

We invite you to join our network of local businesses and compassionate individuals. Your contribution stays right here in our backyard, fueling the referrals and connections that make our immediate outreach possible.

Most of our clients don’t need a lifetime of help—they just need one-time help to get across the gap. Your partnership is the wood and steel that builds that bridge. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to step in at the right moment to change the trajectory of a family's year.

Our History

What began as a holiday mission has evolved into a year-round lifeline for Baldwin County. Originally founded to ensure that no child went without a Christmas or birthday celebration, our Foundation quickly realized that "hard times" don't follow a calendar.

The Foundation Name
The Inspiration

My mother and I first started this Foundation in 2009. For years we had been wanting to start a small, private organization that could help those people who fall between the cracks. Those who might not qualify with other agencies because they are just outside the financial requirements. We learned that there are so many families that fall on hard times and just need a little help to get through the struggle. Using the family last name was a way to honor the memory of my late father, Tommy Lee, and at the time we began, the current life of my now late grandfather, J.M. Lee. They will always remain a part of our mission and serve as a backdrop for our Foundation name. However, the true driving force to make a difference has always been, and will always be, my mother, Brenda Lee.

For over 60 years, Brenda Lee has believed in the idea that no neighbor should ever have to face a crisis alone. Her career is a masterclass in philanthropic devotion, most notably defined by her 25+year tenure as the Executive Director of United Way in Baldwin County. During those decades, Brenda didn’t just manage a nonprofit; she built a center of hope. As the first executive director, she was able to work with community leaders to weave together resources, businesses, and volunteers, to not only establish, but grow United Way to meet the needs of Baldwin County.

From Boardrooms
To Back Porches

Brenda’s influence extends far beyond her titles. From her work with private philanthropic foundations to her countless hours as a tireless volunteer, her approach has always been the same: People First. Pouring her heart into the local community, and teaching techniques to others at a national level, she has always maintained that personal touch required to sit with a family in crisis and hear their story. She has always been led by her heart and faith rather than by work hours or days.

CEO, The Lee Foundation, Inc.

Her work has been the difference for hundreds of families. Whether she was securing funding for major initiatives or ensuring a child had an amazing Christmas, Brenda has spent six decades helping facilitate that help to friends, neighbors, and residents. She remains passionate about her purpose, continues to help with our initiative, and is the true inspiration for The Lee Foundation.
